Dashcams and parking cameras
City drivers park on the street, in shared basements and in public car parks, so scrapes and dented doors happen. A dashcam with a parking mode records while you're away, but it needs a hardwire kit with a low-voltage cut-out so it doesn't flatten the battery. Hybrids and their 12V batteries
Hybrids are common in the city because they suit stop-start driving. Many owners don't realise these cars still have a small 12V battery that powers the computers and lets the car start its hybrid system. If that 12V battery goes flat, the car can look completely dead. Testing and replacing it is routine work. The high-voltage battery and its orange cabling are a different matter and are for licensed professionals only.
